Setting up your Server as a File/Print Server

Once again, after I searched www.winfiles.com, I found a really neat Windows 9x/NT program that will serve HTML, CGI, JAVA, and many other types of files to internet users. It's called Sambar. Go ahead and download it, unzip it, and run the setup program. Everything is pretty much simple, except for where the HTML files are stored. They are stored in the /DOC/ directory. You can use Front Page, or any other HTML editor you want to create any type of web page you want, (including a porn page for all you web entrepreneurs out there.)

Now, here is your chance to see all that I've done. You could access my FTP server if you have the right user name and password, if it's up, by the following link:

ftp://mdockter.d2g.org
As for my setup, I have a Dual Pentium 233Mhz MMX with 128MB of RAM severing FTP, POP3, SMTP, and DNS. But, if you've got a home server, you may want to share files, and a central printer. Proceed to the next page in order to find out how to do that with utilities built into Windows 98.
